This year, our young students at Ali Bin Abi Taleb Primary School contributed to the ENO climate change campaign with utmost enthusiasm and energy.

Everyone at school was excited to take part in such a major event; little creative hands did the Frank the Frog mascot as well as puppets and pins all from recycled materials. Students started collecting pledges and signatures from parents, families, neighbors, nearby shops and malls, as well as prominent figures in Lebanon such as the minister of education, the Council of Beirut, the president of Makassed, and the Educational Directorate at Makassed. In a solid attempt to spread the positive effects of the campaign, our sixth graders headed to three Makassed schools in the North to carry word to more than a 1000 students there!

We are proud to have made a change in our country, among friends, colleagues, and citizens!

The students of School 2 Galati, Romania have participated in the ENO Climate Change Campaign 2011 with great joy and hope in the success of their enterprise. On 16 February the weather was on our side as it was cold but sunny. There were lots of people in the streets who have received our ecological messages.
Parents and even grandparents marched along with the children and the teachers. We are happy to notice that every year the participation in this event gets larger and larger and the impact on the community and on the environment has visible results.

March of Frogs in Minsk (Belarus) was on a frosty day. However lots of people took part in it. Thanks to four little leaders, students of Gymnasium 12, Frank the Frog collected about 500 pledges from 230 people. Frank visited our school, the nearest shop and the library. Whole university involved in Peru!

143students and 7 teachers took part in the ENO Climate Change Campaign 2010 at National University of Education Enrique Guzmán y Valle, Lima Peru. This campaign was introduced very broadly in the university. Faculties of education &physical culture, science (chemistry, natural science, physics, mathematics, ) technology and social sciences were involved. They made research on the impacts of climate change in Peru and organised the parade march. The delegation of students accompanied by their teachers marched with banners, posters, banners, alluding to the Climate Change Campaign and the Campaign's mascot Frank Tthe Ffrog to combat climate change and the party collecting the pledges of the university community of UNE to reduce the impact of climate change. This campaign served as a motivation, awareness, participation, action and commitment of students and professors from the university.

Some slogans by participants: "Future generations will not forgive us for having wasted his last chance, last chance is today.” "Peru is the 3rd country more vulnerable to climate change, over 145 thousand hectares of virgin forest are lost annually.”

This achievement was organised by Blga. MARITZA A. FLORES GUERRERO in co-operation with Dr Bárbara Matos Melendez, ENO Peru Coordinator.

ARCHEOLOGICAL PARK BOTANICAL ZOLOGICO with 25 students organised a worksop about amphibians/frogs in Lima, Peru.

They made a survey to know that both know about amphibians and problems. Students talked about amphibians awareness, using banners, posters and stuffed animals. Students were asked to conduct a drawing to explain amphibians and ecosystems exist in Peru, led by Blga. Patricia Galarza Gonzales estudiante Painting School of Fine Arts in Lima. Peru

A small exhibition of drawings were made by students of the workshop. They prepared a frog as origami and gave a copy to each of the participating students. Each student who received the origami amphibious said his verbal pledge of commitment to protect the amphibians. They turned to apply the same survey and was evaluated and reinforced the theme of amphibians. A letter of request was sent to the Director of Rural History at the National University of San Marcos for her exhibition of drawings of children on amphibians, the exhibition will be at the Royal Hall for the day April 28, 2010 celebrated the World Day of amphibians.

Dear participants of ENO Climate Change Campaign 2010,

Climate change affects us all. Nine out of every ten disasters recorded are now climate related. Rising temperatures and more frequent floods, droughts and storms affect millions of people’s lives. This is set against a backdrop of financial and food insecurity.

On December 7, governments will gather in Copenhagen, Denmark to respond to one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. The main question will be how protect the planet and create a green economy that will lead to long-term prosperity.

Reaching a deal by the time the meeting ends on December 18 will depend not only on complex political negotiations, but also on public pressure from around the globe.

The United Nations has launched “Seal the Deal” campaign that encourages users to sign an online, global petition which will be presented by civil society to governments of the world.

The petition will serve as a reminder that our leaders must negotiate a fair, balanced and effective agreement in Copenhagen, and that they must seal a deal to power green growth, protect our planet and build a more sustainable, prosperous global economy that will benefit all nations and people.

An invitation to ENO Climate Change Campaign 2010

ENO Programme invites schools and children & youth associations to take part to the climate change campaign that will take place from November 2009 to January 2010. Intoductory weeks and activity packages are available here. They are both for basic and advanced levels, varying from arts and drama to scientific articles and radio stories.

The mascot for the campaign is Frank The Frog, a frog who fights against the climate change. Frank collects pledges from people to reduce the impact of climate change. The Majestetical March Of Frogs will take place on 20th of January 2010, around the world! Schools have to register to the campaign by 19th of December 2009.

Invitation à la Campagne 2010 contre le Changement Climatique

Le Programme ENO invite les Ecoles et les Associations de Jeunesse à participer à la Campagne de Lutte contre le Changement Climatique qui se déroulera de novembre 2009 à janvier 2010. Le détail des semaines préparatoires et le programme des activités sont disponibles dans de nombreuses langues. Ils concernent tous les niveaux, des acquis fondamentaux aux niveaux les plus avancés, et touchent des disciplines aussi diverses que les arts et le spectacle (théâtre), la rédaction d’articles scientifiques et des dramatiques ou interviews radiophoniques.

Our special chat day will be Thursday 22nd of January. There will be some experts online to chat with you. It is recommendable that students are not only themselves in the chat room (if they are not almost adults and very reliable). We have to take care of appropriate behaviour. But of course, social interaction is important.

Our highlight next week: The March Of Frogs!

The highlight of our campaign will be The March Of Frogs that will take place on Wedneday, 21st of January. Schools will march with their self-made frogs and collect pledges from people and ask them really DO SOMETHING to reduce the effect of climate change.

First frogs will appear in Oceania. Then following the Sun, the invasion of frogs will spread to Asia, Africa and Europe. The last frogs will march in the Southern Hemisphere.

So far 731 schools have registered for ENO Climate Change Campaign. The latest registration comes from Qatar. Alshyma School from Doha registered and made the number of participation countries now 101. Because of the big demand we have postponed our registration. The global march of frogs will take place on the 21st of January 2009. First frogs will apper in Oceania and ask people to make a change. Together with Sun, our frogs will invade Asia, then Europe and Africa. Finally frogs will march in the Southern Hemisphere!

Today we celebrate our Independence day here in Finland. Another reason for celebrations is that we broke today the record of participating countries for our campaign. We got a registration from Madagascar today, as 100th country. Today is also a global day of action on climate change.

Climate change is a big concern of youth globally

The results of recent survey in Finland shows that climate change and pollution and the biggest threats for Finnish youth, bigger than drugs and wars. It also seems that young people don't think that Finland will do enough to solve problems with climate change.

Results of survey are similar to another poll by UNEP, that took place in five countries . Nearly 90 % of young people across the globe think world leaders should do "whatever it takes" to tackle climate change. Young people are clearly concerned about climate change. Concern is highest in Brazil (96%) and South Africa (91%), followed by India (85%) and the United States (82%), while significantly lower levels of concern are expressed in Russia (70%).

GHANA NATIONAL YOUTH CSOs COALITION ON CLIMATE CHANGE

The Ghana National Youth CSOs Coalition on Climate Change was formed in August 2007 in Accra after series of consultation with a number of youth groups in the country.

The formation of the coalition was triggered by the consistent environmental and climatic situation affecting the development of young people and the country as a whole. Some of these worse situations which were bedeviling the country were the shortfall in the nation's major energy source; the Akosombo Dam due to the rainfall pattern, this had an adverse effect on industries and homes. Another was the flood that hit the three northern regions which rendered many homeless and destroyed many farms.

In view of this crisis and poor management of the environment, Abibimman Foundation, a youth based organization working on environmental issues in Ghana then decided to form a common strong youth front to work on climate change which had then become a global issue in-order to prevent the worse from happening in the country again. This was what gave birth to the coalition.

The coalition which is been hosted by Abibimman Foundation has a mission of engaging young people to effectively preserve the environment and control climatic changes. The coalition which started with a membership of four has now increased to fifteen with effective networking.

Since its inception, the coalition has been educating young people on climate change and engaging policy makers in putting place measures to protect the environment. Before the G8 Summit in Japan this year, the coalition engaged children in some selected public and private schools to write letters and stories to the leaders to act on climate change.

A Contest For Schools

A contest has been launched for schools in the ENO Climate Change Campaign. As one of our activities is learning through drama, schools are asked to record their plays and send them to organisers. The best plays will be featured and get prizes. All the submitted participants will receive afterwards a summary of plays on DVD via postal mail.

RULES:

1) Topic for play is climate change

2) The play must be 100% made by schools including the manuscript

3) The duration of play is MAX 10 minutes

4) All the actors must be kids, under 18 yrs old

5) Language must be English or play can be carried out without speech

6) This is not a video contest: schools just record their play.

7) The play must be recorded as avi or mpg file and sent either with an electronic file transfer service ( yousendit.com, sendthisfile.com etc ) or via postal mail (in CD or DVD). You must include following information:

An invitation to ENO Climate Change Campaign 2011

ENO Programme invites schools and children & youth associations to take part to the climate change campaign that will take place from December 2010 to February 2011. Intoductory weeks and activity packages are available here. They are both for basic and advanced levels, varying from arts and drama to scientific articles and radio stories.

The mascot for the campaign is Frank The Frog, a frog who fights against the climate change. Frank collects pledges from people to reduce the impact of climate change. The Majestetical March Of Frogs will take place on 16th of February 2011, around the world! Schools have to register to the campaign by 31st of December 2010.

Le Programme ENO invite les Ecoles et les Associations de Jeunesse à participer à la Campagne de Lutte contre le Changement Climatique qui se déroulera de decembre 2010 à fevrier 2011. Le détail des semaines préparatoires et le programme des activités sont disponibles dans de nombreuses langues. In this cartoon Ozzy Ozone and his friend Zoe will be falling to the North Pole and carried there by Tilman the Polar bear. They will learn what happens to earth’s protective shield the ozone layer and what is the interlinkage with global warming. They will also meet some scientists in Tara boat. And Frank.

Frank The Frog and The Pataluoto Swingers published
their debut single today. "You Control The Climate Change"
asks you to make small changes in your daily
behaviour for the better environment and future.
This song is free to be downloaded if one makes a pledge online in the Frank's Pledge Bank.

" I am concerned about the future of this planet, not only as a frog. I thought
human beings are wiser but it is time to wake them up from hibernation"
says Frank. "To spread the message we will also publish our music video. Quack!"

Frank is the mascot in the climate change campaign by the ENO Programme,
a global virtual school and network for sustainable development. The Pataluoto
Swingers are 4-5th graders from Pataluoto School, the city of Joensuu, Finland.

The March of Frogs in Segev Shalom, Israel

The Alnoor Elementary School
in Segev Shalom, Israel has joined
the campaign of Climate Change
and participated with their 5^th
and 6^th grades in the March of Frogs,
on January 17^th. It was a sunny
and warm day and all participants
were happy.

After learning about the climate
change globally and locally, the
students prepared posters with
pledges to save the environment
and diminish the global warming effect.

They also prepared paper crown with the picture of Frank the frog that
they wore during the march. Some of the students hold the frog banks,
made during their art classes. They walked on the streets with happy
faces and the hope that their message will reach the people in their town.

Teacher of environmental science, Yiad Hagazi was responsible for
translating the material into Arabic and organizing the March of the Frogs.
He was joined by homeroom teachers, art teachers and science teachers.
The supervisor of Agriculture and Environmental Studies in the District
was the honor guest on the event.

Campaign at Primary School, Ledina, Slovenia

Primary School Ledina in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia,
has joined the project Against climate changes, too. Considering
the fact that the school is situated in the very city centre, we wish
to have a cleaner environment, with less noise and pollution. On
the other hand, we are aware of the fact that the changes in the
environment are leading us towards catastrophes on a much larger scale.

Class 5a at Primary School Ledina

In class 5a we talked widely about the topic, examined the
material we had gathered at home and discussed the climate
changes on our planet.

We have come to a conclusion that everyone of us should start
by making small changes him/herself. In this way we wrote our
promises. At art classes we designed a frog named Frank, the
mascot of our campaign.

On Wednesday, January 17, we prepared a march of frogs.
We put up posters reminding people of the dangers for the
environment if the climate continues to change dramatically.

We also made leaflets on which we wrote suggestions what
each of us could contribute to the campaign. We distributed the
leaflets to people all over the school and warned the passers-by
who were given a chance to write their own promises as well.
Many pupils, parents and teachers responded and we managed
to gather over two hundred promises.

The media responded, too. Radio Slovenia reported on the
campaign on Wednesday morning and on Saturday on the
programme Sobotna raglja. The newspaper Slovenske novice
published an article about us on Friday, January 26.

What is going to be our next step? We have decided to keep
our promises . At the same time we wrote to Slovenia's highest
authorities and urged them to write their own promises and
send them to us. We have truly enjoyed the project and have
learnt a lot for future life.

So,that the frogs can breathe easier!

The students of Gimnazija Ptuj (class 2.a) have joined the ENO
and the project about climate changes. The project is called
»So that the frogs can breathe easier«. We were inspired by the
mascot (a frog named Frank), which we made by ourselves and
was symbolically carried across the road. Why did we do this?

The frog is an animal that is very sensitive to climate changes,
so many kinds the species are already onthe edge of extinction.
humans have a big influence on their life. The most interesting fact
is that frogs need the closeness of humans. Humans, however, are
changing frogs habitat by building houses and roads, changing layers
of humus, using pesticides in farming, destroying natural ponds etc.
Did you know, that gardeners are very happy if frogs inhabits their
gardens because that means they wont have any problems with pests?
By building an extensive road sistem network, humans are interferring
with frogs natural paths that lead to their spawning places.
This is the reason why there are so many frogs run over by cars during
theirr spawning season. Many environmental organisations are warming
us about this problem by carrying frogs across the roads, closer to the
spawning places.

Our preparations began quite some time ago. We startedto cutting frogs
from paper. Onto those paper-frogs we wrote our promises how we were
going to improve the environment. We made posters and invited other
students to take part in the activities. We presented our work with a
role-play between two worried meteorologists talking about climate changes.
We organised an exehibition in the school library.
But, if you look at the pictures, you will see for yourselves!

How did the students at Škofja Loka Grammar
School, Slovenia, participate in the campaign known as:
The March of Frogs or how to reduce the emissions
of greenhouse gases, on January 17th this year?

The 1st year students (class E) already in December
last year discussed the causes and consequences of
climatic changes in the atmosphere at the science
subjects, such as Biology, Chemistry and Geography.
They brought up a lot of pledges how to change their
environmental behaviour and increase their awareness.

The 2nd year students (class A) made frogs out of
recycled paper, wrote pledges and on January 17th,
2007 prepared the school exhibition of the frogs and their pledges in a
school hall.

Besides this, the students prepared a lot of leaflets, saying: Turn off the
lights when the sun shines, which were attached to all classroom doors
in order to save some energy, when possible.

We informed the local media and there were some local newspaper reporters
who came to school on that day and they promised to report about the students’
activities which, we hope, might improve their environmental awareness.

Furthermore, the 3rd year students will watch an Al Gore film The
Inconvenient Truth next week as a part of their regular curriculum.

On January, the 17th, 2007,"Aukuras" secondary school from

Campaign at School Svencionys. Lithuania

We haven't seen any snow in Lithuania this winter.
Usually hot weather prevails (on January 10 ^ththe temperature
was +12,6 degrees Centigrade). Its rains constantly. The level of
water has risen in rivers and lakes.

During the preparation for the 'March of frogs', the
students of the school watched and recorded the unique phenomena
in the nature: violets came into blossom in the forests, meadows
were ploughed up by moles, beavers pisked and demolished a lot of
trees, winter crop came into leaf, trees budded, some of them
even came into blossom, the children saw flies, mosquitoes and mites…

The children have learned a lovely song about frogs, they
have made Lithuanian friends for frog Frenk. On the 17^thof
January little frogs, students, teachers and the administration of our
school visited 16 institution and companies in the town and they got
concrete adults' promises.

The children were on a visit by the Mayor of Svencionys
district, the leader of the Board of Education, the monitor of the
town, the leaders of other institutions. They all promised to do
concrete works for the good of the nature.

In the lobby of the school posters with promises were
put, among the flowers settled frogs – the friends of Frenk. The
show ended with a cheerful 'Disco of frogs'. We are waiting for the
keeping of promises.

We are very grateful to you for taking us into this great
action because we have felt very important and useful for he nature!
