Ozzy goes Polar with Frank!

The mascot for ENO Climate Change Campaign, Frank The Frog spreads his message in the latest cartoon of Ozzy Ozone!

In this cartoon Ozzy Ozone and his friend Zoe will be falling to the North Pole and carried there by Tilman the Polar bear. They will learn what happens to earth’s protective shield the ozone layer and what is the interlinkage with global warming. They will also meet some scientists in Tara boat. And Frank.

To celebrate The World Environment Day, we are happy to declare today that about 130 000 trees have been promised to plant in the ENO 2007 Tree Planting Campaign. About a half of pledged trees have already been planted. Most of trees will be planted in Kenya.

A NEW HIT SINGLE TO CONTROL
THE CLIMATE CHANGE

Frank The Frog and The Pataluoto Swingers published
their debut single today. "You Control The Climate Change"
asks you to make small changes in your daily
behaviour for the better environment and future.
This song is free to be downloaded if one makes a pledge online in the Frank's Pledge Bank.

" I am concerned about the future of this planet, not only as a frog. I thought
human beings are wiser but it is time to wake them up from hibernation"
says Frank. "To spread the message we will also publish our music video. Quack!"

Frank is the mascot in the climate change campaign by the ENO Programme,
a global virtual school and network for sustainable development. The Pataluoto
Swingers are 4-5th graders from Pataluoto School, the city of Joensuu, Finland.

The March of Frogs in Segev Shalom, Israel

The Alnoor Elementary School
in Segev Shalom, Israel has joined
the campaign of Climate Change
and participated with their 5^th
and 6^th grades in the March of Frogs,
on January 17^th. It was a sunny
and warm day and all participants
were happy.

After learning about the climate
change globally and locally, the
students prepared posters with
pledges to save the environment
and diminish the global warming effect.

They also prepared paper crown with the picture of Frank the frog that
they wore during the march. Some of the students hold the frog banks,
made during their art classes. They walked on the streets with happy
faces and the hope that their message will reach the people in their town.

Teacher of environmental science, Yiad Hagazi was responsible for
translating the material into Arabic and organizing the March of the Frogs.
He was joined by homeroom teachers, art teachers and science teachers.
The supervisor of Agriculture and Environmental Studies in the District
was the honor guest on the event.

Campaign at Primary School, Ledina, Slovenia

Primary School Ledina in Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia,
has joined the project Against climate changes, too. Considering
the fact that the school is situated in the very city centre, we wish
to have a cleaner environment, with less noise and pollution. On
the other hand, we are aware of the fact that the changes in the
environment are leading us towards catastrophes on a much larger scale.



Class 5a at Primary School Ledina

In class 5a we talked widely about the topic, examined the
material we had gathered at home and discussed the climate
changes on our planet.



We have come to a conclusion that everyone of us should start
by making small changes him/herself. In this way we wrote our
promises. At art classes we designed a frog named Frank, the
mascot of our campaign.







On Wednesday, January 17, we prepared a march of frogs.
We put up posters reminding people of the dangers for the
environment if the climate continues to change dramatically.



We also made leaflets on which we wrote suggestions what
each of us could contribute to the campaign. We distributed the
leaflets to people all over the school and warned the passers-by
who were given a chance to write their own promises as well.
Many pupils, parents and teachers responded and we managed
to gather over two hundred promises.






The media responded, too. Radio Slovenia reported on the
campaign on Wednesday morning and on Saturday on the
programme Sobotna raglja. The newspaper Slovenske novice
published an article about us on Friday, January 26.



What is going to be our next step? We have decided to keep
our promises . At the same time we wrote to Slovenia's highest
authorities and urged them to write their own promises and
send them to us. We have truly enjoyed the project and have
learnt a lot for future life.

Hello! We are from the National College "Mircea cel Batran", Constantza,
Romania. See some photos with our group and our coordinator, with the fliers
that we shared to the local people in the March of Frogs, with the March,
with the meeting with our principal and with the posters that we posted in our
highschool.

Here is also a powerpoint and one of the articles that appeared in our local newspaper "Telegraf". The subject was also published by the national newspapers: "Observatorul" and "Romania libera". There were also news on the radio.

"So that the frogs could breathe easier" .... Ptuj, Slovenia

So,that the frogs can breathe easier!

The students of Gimnazija Ptuj (class 2.a) have joined the ENO
and the project about climate changes. The project is called
»So that the frogs can breathe easier«. We were inspired by the
mascot (a frog named Frank), which we made by ourselves and
was symbolically carried across the road. Why did we do this?

The frog is an animal that is very sensitive to climate changes,
so many kinds the species are already onthe edge of extinction.
humans have a big influence on their life. The most interesting fact
is that frogs need the closeness of humans. Humans, however, are
changing frogs habitat by building houses and roads, changing layers
of humus, using pesticides in farming, destroying natural ponds etc.
Did you know, that gardeners are very happy if frogs inhabits their
gardens because that means they wont have any problems with pests?
By building an extensive road sistem network, humans are interferring
with frogs natural paths that lead to their spawning places.
This is the reason why there are so many frogs run over by cars during
theirr spawning season. Many environmental organisations are warming
us about this problem by carrying frogs across the roads, closer to the
spawning places.

Our preparations began quite some time ago. We startedto cutting frogs
from paper. Onto those paper-frogs we wrote our promises how we were
going to improve the environment. We made posters and invited other
students to take part in the activities. We presented our work with a
role-play between two worried meteorologists talking about climate changes.
We organised an exehibition in the school library.
But, if you look at the pictures, you will see for yourselves!
